Phaistos Super & Mini Markets Welcome to the Phaistos network of stores. The chain of Super & Mini Markets FAISTOS, with 200 stores throughout Crete, has been active since 1982 in the Cretan retail sector, meeting the needs of the Cretan household, with responsibility and respect for the consumer, offering the best products at the lowest prices. "FAESTOS SA" was founded in 1982 with the legal form of an urban grocers' cooperative. Initially of 20 members, with equal cooperative shares based in the city of Heraklion and the prefecture of Heraklion. The purpose of the cooperative was and is to supply its members with products in a wide variety and at very competitive prices, but also in general to promote the economic, social and cultural development of its members and to improve their quality of life. The cooperative accepts orders for goods and makes bulk purchases of all kinds for its members with the aim always of achieving competitive buying and selling prices. From 1982 until today, the cooperative has followed a steadily upward path, with steady growth, an increase in members (as can be seen below from the comparative data), an increase in staff (from 3 people in 1982 we reached 32 people in 2001 and today it counts 40 employees), with continuous organization, perfect computerization and specialization in offering services to its members. In other words, support of its members, both on a professional level with various promotional actions, brochures, offers, etc. and on a personal level with various social benefits such as e.g. the blood bank, donations, etc. In 1996 a major investment is made: A building of 2,500m2 is being purchased on a plot of land with a total area of 5,000m2 in the VIPE of Heraklion as a privately owned facility. Purchase of cars for the organization of the goods distribution network. Staff training with special seminars. Our goal is united strength in the difficult competitive times we are going through. Here it must be emphasized the important role played by the supplier companies in the development of "FAESTOS", especially the local ones with their understanding, proper cooperation and the human relationship they maintain with us. Since July 1998, "FAESTOS A.E.V.E." begins cooperation with "SYN. IN.KA CHANION" with a franchise relationship with the services of the largest group in the Super Market market in Greece, ELOMAS. The spectacular development of "FAESTOS" is the result of the collective and above all the methodical work achieved by the coordination of actions, the trust of the members in the management and the staff and above all in the adoption and consolidation of the advantages of the cooperative concept by our members. It is essential to understand that the saying "THE STRENGTH UNITES" is now a one-way street for our time. The cooperating "FAISTOS" stores whose turnover in 2000 approached 5,000,000,000 Drach., while in 1982, the year of their foundation, their total turnover did not exceed 45,000,000 Drach. THE MESSAGE of the cooperating "FAISTOS" stores to all consumers is: "Let's all help to develop the neighborhood store, the neighborhood store.
