    Open: Winter: From November 1st to March 31st: 08:30-15:00 The Collection will be closed until 31-3-2015 due to lack of personnel.   Summer: The Collection remains closed due to lack of personnel.   Tickets: Full: €2, Reduced: €1 Special ticket package: Full: €2, Reduced: €1   The Archaeological-Folklore Collection entitled "Nape, city of Lesvos" was launched in September 2001 on the ground floor of the Elementary School of Nape. The space allotted by the Community to ensure the protection and promotion of the ancient architectural parts that were previously scattered in the rural region of Nape, but also to highlight the tradition of the region through everyday utilitarian objects of the villagers .   With the creation of the Collection the long-term desire of the Community residents to keep ancient relics in their remote village was satisfied, so he upgraded culturally and economically. Furthermore, the presentation of ancient and traditional items on the same site highlights the history and continuity of cultural heritage from antiquity to modern times.   Exhibition Units   1) Archaeological Collection. 2) Folklore Collection.   Exhibits report by themes: 1) Wind capitals unfluted flywheels and bases of columns archaic from trachyte stone, from the rural region of Nape. 2) Traditional everyday utensils, tools, costumes, animal parts from donations of the residents of Nape.

  • ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF LEMNOS

Monday closed.   Tickets: Full: €2, Reduced: €1 Special ticket package: Full: €2, Reduced: €1   Due to the damage caused by the earthquake of May 24, 2104, the second floor of the museum with the exhibits of historical times, will remain closed to the public until the damage is restored.   The permanent exhibition of the Archaeological Museum of Lemnos, housed in two-storey traditional building of the 19th century., Was opened in 1993 and includes findings from the excavations of the Italian Archaeological School in Poliochni Kaveirio and Hephaestia and excavations of the Ephorate mainly Mirina. Also hosted sporadic findings from all over the island, donated private collections and antiquities of Imvros, which had been sent to Athens Bishop of the island just before the Asia Minor Catastrophe.   Exhibition Units   1) Findings of the prehistoric period Findings from the Poliochni artefacts from Myrina of the Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age objects from the same period that perisynellegisan across Lemnos, Mycenaean pottery samples from Koukonisi. 2) Stone objects historical times Sculptures, inscriptions and tombstones of Lemnos and Imbros from the 5th century BC to the 1st century AD. 3) Exhibits from the 8th century BC to the 3rd century AD Burial sets from the necropolis of Hephaestia, findings from Kaveirio, the Sanctuary of the Great Goddess in Hephaestus and Artemis in Mirina, samples of pottery from the Hellenistic workshops Hephaestia and Myrina. 4) Items miniatures from the Bronze Age to the medieval period Bone and metal objects, tools, jewelry and coin collecting.

Summer: Tuesday-Sunday: 08.00-15.00 until October 31st Closed on Mondays.   Tickets: Full: €3, Reduced: €2   In the old building of the Archaeological Museum of Mytilene the history of Lesvos from the Final Neolithic period to the late Roman period is being unfolded. With the exhibition in the new building of the Archaeological Museum of Mytilene the daily religious, economic and political life of the 3rd century BC to the 4th century AD is being unfolded.

  • MUSEUM OF WORKS BY THEOPHILOS

    Open: Winter (November 1-March 31) 08.30-15.00   Summer (April 1-October 31): Monday: closed Tuesday-Sunday: 10.00-17.00   Tickets: Full: € 2, Reduced: € 1   The Theophilos Museum was built in 1964 in Varia, a suburb of Mytilene, where the popular artist was born and spent his childhood years. It was built by the famous Mytilenian publisher of art books in Paris, Stratis Eleftheriades (Teriade). In 1965, Teriade donated the Museum to the Municipality of Mytilene, together with 86 of Theophilos' paintings from his own private collection. Since then, it has been operating as a municipal museum. The building is built in the dusty pink local stone, which harmonizes prefectly with the extensive olive grove around it. It consists of four connecting rooms in which are displayed 86 paintings by Theophilos. Their subjects are inspired from folk art, history and mythology. They also depict everyday scenes, costumes, landscapes, etc.

  • NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM OF THE PETRIFIED FOREST OF LESVOS

    Open: Winter: From the 1st of October until the 30th of June: Monday-Friday:8:30-16:30 Suturday:9:00-17:00 Sunday:10:00-17:00   Summer: From 1st of July untill the 30th of September: Monday-Suturday:9:00-17:00 Sunday:10:00-17:00   Tickets: Ticket general admission (multiple): 5,00 € Family ticket: 10 € Reduced ticket for group visits: 3,00 € Reduced ticket for students: 2,50 € Plaka Park Admission: 2,00 € Free admission for members of ICOM and Culture Card holders.   The Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest was established in 1994 in order to study, research, promote, preserve and protect this invaluable "testimonial" of life in the distant past. The year 2000 marked the establishment of the European Geopark Network, its objective being the cooperation of geologic parks and monuments at a European level for the development of geotourism. The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest is a founding member of this network. In 2001, the museum was awarded the Eurosite Management Award for its effective management of the Lesvos Petrified Forest. In February of 2004, the Petrified Forest of Lesvos was inducted into the Global Geopark Network of UNESCO.

  • TERIADE MUSEUM - LIBRARY

    Open: Winter: November 1-March 31: 08:30-15:00   Tickets: Full: € 2, Reduced: € 1   In the Teriade Museum is housed on a permanent basis the exhibition entitled "Tribute to Teriade", organized in May 1973 at the Grand Palais in Paris, by the French Ministry of Culture.   For the first time, painters such as Matisse, Picasso, Chagall, were given the opportunity not simply to illustrate books, but to create an artisic work through the medium of the book.   In the Museum are also exhibited works by: Baudin, Bornard, Bores, Chagall, Giacometti, Grimaire, Laurence, Le Corbusier, Leger, Matisse, Miro, Picasso, as well as by: Giorgos Vakirtzis, Theophilos Hadjimichail, Manolis Kalliyiannis, Orestis Kanellis, Callirhoe Marouda, Giorgos Rorris, Yiannis Tsarouchis.
