ARHONTICO TZOUFI - TRADITIONAL HOSTEL ZAGORI IOANNINA
In the village square, next to the perennial tree is an old two-storey mansion in 1700, which retains the old architecture and functions as a guesthouse. Traditional building Stephanos Tzoufis inherited from their ancestors and took care to keep the external appearance and internal decoration of the old style. It is stone house with courtyards, Hyatt, ontades, wooden floors and carved ceilings, rich wood decor. The rooms are large, wooden doors, nice and large bathrooms, TV in all rooms. We enter the Hyatt (reception area) which has three arches, is large and sunny, where the customer enjoys the breakfast. Right entering winter room, living room (matzato). BELOI
One of the most famous stairs is Vradetou, and the Beloi (nice view in Slavic) location is nearby. 62 km north-west of the city of Ioannina you can find Papigo, probably the most idyllic area in the region of Zagori. The two villages - the Mikro (Small) and the Megalo (Big) Papigo - are built using locally sourced stone, and the traditional architecture of Zagori. Τhey were both nominated as preservation zones by the Ministry of Culture. For your stay In Megalo Papigo, you can find the IOANNIDIS Traditional Pension. It has been a pension since 1980, based upon specifications laid down by the Greek Tourism Organization. It was built prior to 1813, and has been fully renovated inside, with all respect to its special character. Its privileged location offers a great view not only of the village, but also of the imposing mass of the Astraka mountain: and when the weather is good enough, there is nothing better than a delicious cup of coffee in the garden! PORFIRON
This pleasant hotel was built in 1850 as a doctors residence and was later used as a girls school. It has eight spacious, tastefully furnished rooms. Each room has been named after a famous mountain top in Greece. During the restoration of the building, the original character has been preserved as much as possible. Fretwork ceilings dating back 150 years still adorn the entrance and can also be found upstairs. All rooms have a shower and toilet (2 rooms have a Jacuzzi bath) and most of the rooms also have a fireplace. The owners, Jiannis en Rita Kirligitsis, attach much value to the Greek tradition and give their guests a warm welcome, making sure they feel at home. In the hotels restaurant, the owners prepare fresh regional dishes daily (also catering for the vegetarians) with ingredients from their own garden or the surrounding countryside. Most of the bread is homemade and Ritas favourite pursuit is making jams, marmalades and liqueurs. You will find them in several special flavours such as elderberry and chanterelle.
